Presenting a PowerPoint with notes can be accomplished in a variety of ways, and the approach you choose will largely depend on your personal preferences and the specifics of your presentation. However, one of the most effective and widely used methods is the Presenter View. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use it:
- Ensure that your computer is connected to a projector: The Presenter View will display the notes on your computer screen, while the audience will only see the slides on the projector screen.
- Open your PowerPoint presentation: You can do this by locating the file on your computer and double-clicking it.
- Click on the Slide Show tab: This is located at the top of the PowerPoint window.
- Select Presenter View: You’ll find this option in the Monitors group on the Slide Show tab. By selecting this, you’ll enable PowerPoint to display your notes on your computer screen, and the slide show on the projector screen.
- Start the slide show: You can do this by pressing the F5 key on your keyboard, or by clicking on the “From Beginning” or “From Current Slide” button in the Start Slide Show group on the Slide Show tab.
- Proceed with your presentation: You should now be able to see your notes on your computer screen, while the audience sees only the slides. Use the navigation controls at the bottom of the Presenter View screen to move through your slides.
In addition to Presenter View, there are other ways to present a PowerPoint with notes. For instance, you can print your slides and notes as handouts, or use a secondary device, like a tablet, to view your notes. Whichever method you choose, remember that your notes are there to aid you, not to be read verbatim. Use them as reminders of key points, but try to engage directly with your audience as much as possible.
Finally, practice your presentation several times before the actual event. This will help you become more familiar with your material and reduce the need to rely heavily on your notes.
