Adding and customizing borders in PowerPoint presentations can enhance the visual appeal of your slides. Here are some tips that you can follow:
Adding Borders
1. Click on the shape or image you want to add a border to. If it’s not yet on your slide, you can insert it by going to ‘Insert’ > ‘Shapes’ or ‘Insert’ > ‘Pictures’. 2. Navigate to the ‘Format’ tab in the Ribbon. This tab will only appear when you’ve selected a shape or image. 3. In the ‘Format’ tab, click on ‘Shape Outline’ for shapes or ‘Picture Border’ for images. Here, you can choose the color of your border.
Customizing Borders
1. Change the Weight: If you want a thicker or thinner border, go to ‘Shape Outline’ or ‘Picture Border’, then ‘Weight’. You can choose from the preset widths or click on ‘More Lines’ to specify a custom width. 2. Change the Style: To make your border dashed or dotted, head to ‘Shape Outline’ or ‘Picture Border’, then ‘Dashes’. Select the style you prefer. 3. Add Effects: For additional flair, consider adding an effect to your border. Go to ‘Shape Effects’ or ‘Picture Effects’, then ‘Glow’, ‘Shadow’, or ‘3-D Rotation’. Experiment with these options until you find the effect that suits your presentation best.
Remember, the key to effective presentations is to keep your designs consistent and your content clear. Use borders to highlight important information or to guide your audience’s focus. But don’t overdo it, as too many borders can make your slides look cluttered.
