How can I record my PowerPoint slideshow as a video?

Recording a PowerPoint Slideshow as a Video

Recording a PowerPoint slideshow as a video is a straightforward process. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation you wish to record.
  2. Go to the ‘Slide Show’ tab in the Ribbon. This is located at the top of the PowerPoint window.
  3. Select ‘Record Slide Show’ from the drop-down menu. You will have two options: ‘Record from Current Slide’ and ‘Record from Beginning’. Choose the one that suits your needs.
  4. A recording window will appear. Here, you can choose to record audio and video by toggling the microphone and camera icons on or off. If these icons are not present, you may need to adjust your settings or install additional hardware.
  5. When you are ready to start recording, click the red ‘Record’ button. PowerPoint will do a three-second countdown before starting the recording.
  6. Advance through your slides as you would in a regular presentation. PowerPoint will record everything that happens on-screen, along with any audio or video input.
  7. When you have finished recording, press the ‘Stop’ button. You can then review your recording, and re-record any slides if necessary.
  8. Once you are satisfied with your recording, save your presentation. The recording will be embedded in the presentation file.
  9. To save your recorded presentation as a video file, go back to the ‘File’ menu, select ‘Export’, then ‘Create a Video’. Here, you can choose the quality of your video, add any additional narrations or timings, and save it in your desired location.

Remember, your video’s quality will depend on the specifications of your computer and the quality of your audio and video recording devices. It’s also worth noting that the recording feature is only available on PowerPoint 2013 or later.
