Animating a 3D model in PowerPoint is a great way to enhance your presentation, making it more engaging and interactive. Here are the steps to do it:
1. Insert a 3D Model
First, you need to have a 3D model ready. PowerPoint accepts 3D models in the .fbx, .obj, .3mf, .ply, .stl, .glb, and .gltf formats. To insert a 3D model, click on the “Insert” tab, then select “3D Models” from the “Illustrations” group. You can choose a model from your files or from the online 3D library provided by PowerPoint.
2. Position the 3D Model
Once the 3D model is inserted, you can position it the way you want. Click and drag the model to move it around, or use the circular arrow control above the model to rotate it. To resize the model, simply drag the corners of the bounding box.
3. Add Animation
To animate your 3D model, go to the “Animations” tab and select an animation from the “Animation” group. You can add a simple entrance, emphasis, or exit animation. Or, for more complex animations, use the “Custom Animation” option. Keep in mind that not all animations are suitable for 3D models.
4. Set Animation Properties
After adding an animation, you can customize its properties. Click on the “Animation Pane” button in the “Advanced Animation” group to open the Animation Pane. Here, you can set the animation’s start, duration, and delay. You can also reorder the animations if you have more than one.
5. Preview the Animation
Finally, preview the animation to see how it looks. Click on the “Preview” button in the “Preview” group under the “Animations” tab. If you’re not satisfied with the result, you can always go back and adjust the animation settings.
Remember, the key to effective animation is to keep it simple and relevant. Too much animation can distract the audience and reduce the effectiveness of your presentation. So use animations wisely to highlight key points and make your presentation more engaging.
