Adding Animation to Shapes in PowerPoint
Animating shapes in PowerPoint can add a dynamic flair to your presentation. Here are the steps on how you can do it:
- Open your PowerPoint presentation and navigate to the slide where you want to add an animation to a shape.
- Select the shape you want to animate. If you haven’t created a shape yet, you can do so by clicking on the “Shapes” icon in the “Insert” tab. Choose the shape you want and draw it onto the slide.
- With the shape selected, go to the “Animations” tab. Here you will see a variety of animation options.
- Click on the animation you want to apply to your shape. PowerPoint will automatically preview the animation for you.
- If you want to customize the animation further, click on the “Animation Pane” button which is also located in the “Animations” tab. This will open a side panel where you can adjust the timing and order of the animation.
Remember, the key to using animations effectively is to not overdo it. You want the animations to enhance your presentation, not distract from it.
Types of Animations in PowerPoint
PowerPoint offers four basic types of animations:
- Entrance: These animations bring your shape onto the slide. Examples include “Fly In”, “Float In”, and “Zoom”.
- Emphasis: These animations highlight your shape in some way while it is on the slide. Examples include “Grow/Shrink”, “Spin”, and “Pulse”.
- Exit: These animations take your shape off of the slide. Examples include “Fly Out”, “Float Out”, and “Zoom Out”.
- Motion Paths: These animations move your shape along a predetermined path, like a line, circle, or star.
By combining these types of animations, you can create a visually engaging presentation that helps you communicate your message more effectively.
