When setting up your PowerPoint presentation, there are several considerations to ensure optimal viewing and delivery. Here are a few recommended settings:
Aspect Ratio
The aspect ratio reflects the shape of your slides. The two common choices are 4:3 (standard) and 16:9 (widescreen). The best choice depends on the device where you’ll display your presentation. If you’re using a modern widescreen monitor or projector, 16:9 is the ideal choice. For older, square-shaped screens, use 4:3. You can change the aspect ratio by going to “Design” > “Slide Size” > “Standard” or “Widescreen”.
Resolution
Resolution refers to the number of pixels displayed on the screen. Higher resolution results in sharper and clearer images. However, a very high resolution might make your file size too large. PowerPoint automatically sets the resolution based on your screen’s resolution, but you can adjust it in the “File” > “Options” > “Advanced” > “Image Size and Quality”.
Fonts
Ensure that the fonts used in your presentation are universally available or embedded in the presentation. This prevents any formatting issues when the presentation is opened on a different device. You can embed fonts by going to “File” > “Options” > “Save” and check “Embed fonts in the file”.
Color Palette
Use a consistent color palette throughout your slides. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also improves readability. You can set a color palette by going to “Design” > “Variants” > “Colors”.
Guides
Guides help you align text, images, and shapes on your slide. You can enable them by going to “View” > “Show” > “Guides”.
Remember, the settings you choose should enhance the overall presentation and make your content easy to understand and engage with. The main goal is to ensure your audience can focus on your message without any distractions.
