There were a number of standout pitch decks in 2018 that successfully combined compelling storytelling with excellent design. Here are five examples:
1. Airbnb
Airbnb’s pitch deck is a great example of simplicity and consistency. They used a minimalist design, with lots of white space and simple graphics. Their storyline was direct and easy to follow, explaining the problem (expensive, impersonal travel accommodations), their solution (cheaper, more personal travel experiences through home-sharing), and how they planned to make it happen.
2. Buffer
Buffer’s pitch deck showcased their strong understanding of their market and their customer. They presented clear, concise information about their user base, revenue model, and growth strategy. Their use of visuals to represent these data points was particularly effective.
3. LinkedIn
LinkedIn’s pitch deck was focused on their mission and vision. They effectively explained their value proposition and what set them apart from other social media platforms. Their use of graphics and diagrams to illustrate their user growth and business model stood out.
4. Coinbase
Coinbase’s pitch deck was notable for its simplicity and clarity. They clearly defined the problem they were solving (making it easy to buy and sell cryptocurrency), their solution, and their target market. They also used graphs and charts to explain their growth and revenue.
5. Uber
Uber’s pitch deck was simple yet effective. They clearly defined their value proposition (cheap, convenient, reliable transportation) and used maps and diagrams to illustrate their market potential and growth strategy.
Each of these pitch decks is a great example of how effective storytelling and design can be used to create a compelling pitch. These examples demonstrate the importance of understanding your audience, clearly defining your value proposition, and effectively presenting your business model and growth strategy.
