Installing PowerPoint on a Chromebook involves a few steps since Chrome OS doesn’t natively support Microsoft Office applications. However, there are several methods you can use to access PowerPoint on your Chromebook.
Use Office Online
One of the easiest ways to use PowerPoint on a Chromebook is through Office Online, which is a free, web-based version of Microsoft Office. Follow these steps:
- Open Google Chrome on your Chromebook.
- Go to the Office Online website.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have one, you can create it for free.
- Once you’re signed in, click on the PowerPoint icon to start using it.
While Office Online doesn’t have all the features of the desktop version of PowerPoint, it should be more than sufficient for most presentation design needs.
Use the Office Mobile Apps
Another option is to use the Office mobile apps, which are available on the Google Play Store:
- Open the Google Play Store on your Chromebook.
- Search for Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Click on Install to download and install the app.
- Once installed, open the app and sign in with your Microsoft account.
Note that the mobile version of PowerPoint has limited features compared to the desktop version.

Both services allow you to run a full Windows desktop from your Chromebook, which means you can install and use the full version of PowerPoint.
Use CrossOver for Chrome OS
CrossOver for Chrome OS is a paid app that allows you to run Windows applications on a Chromebook. After installing CrossOver, you can download and install the full version of PowerPoint.
Keep in mind that not all features may work perfectly, and performance may not be as good as on a native Windows machine.
While these methods allow you to use PowerPoint on a Chromebook, they may not offer the best performance or user experience. If you frequently need to use PowerPoint for presentation design, you might want to consider using a Windows or Mac computer instead.
