Creating Boom Cards using PowerPoint is a relatively straightforward process. Here are the detailed steps:
Step 1: Create Your Slides
Launch PowerPoint and create your slides. Each slide will become an individual Boom Card, so design them with this in mind. You can use text, images, shapes, and other PowerPoint features to create engaging cards.
Step 2: Save Slides as Images
Once you’re satisfied with your slides, you need to save them as images. To do this, click on the ‘File’ menu and choose ‘Save As’. In the ‘Save As’ dialog box, select the location where you want to save the images. Then, in the ‘Save as type’ dropdown menu, select an image format such as JPEG or PNG. Click ‘Save’. PowerPoint will then ask if you want to export every slide or just the current slide. Choose ‘Every Slide’.
Step 3: Import Images into Boom Learning
Now, go to the Boom Learning website and sign in to your account. Click on the ‘Studio’ tab and then on the ‘Create’ button to start a new deck. Name your deck and add a description if desired. To add a card, click on the ‘+ Add’ button and choose the ‘Upload’ option. Navigate to the location where you saved your PowerPoint slides as images, select the images, and click ‘Open’. Once uploaded, you can arrange and edit the cards as needed.
Step 4: Add Interactivity
Boom Cards are interactive, so the next step is to add interactive elements to your cards. This may include draggable items, fill-in-the-blank questions, multiple choice questions, and more. To add these elements, click on the card you want to edit and select the ‘Add’ button. Choose the type of interactive element you want to add and customize it to fit your card.
Step 5: Publish Your Deck
When you’re satisfied with your deck, it’s time to publish it. Click on the ‘Publish’ button in the upper right corner of the screen. Boom Learning will ask if you want to publish the deck to your library or the store. Choose the appropriate option and follow the prompts to complete the publishing process.
And that’s it! You’ve now created a Boom Cards deck using PowerPoint. Remember, the more engaging and interactive your cards, the more effective they’ll be as learning tools.
