Adding a video background to your PowerPoint presentation can indeed make it more dynamic and visually engaging. The process is fairly straightforward, and with a few steps, you can enhance your presentation. Please follow the instructions below:
Adding a Video background in PowerPoint
- Open your PowerPoint presentation and go to the slide where you want to add the video background.
- Click on the “Insert” tab in the PowerPoint toolbar.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Video” and then “Video on My PC” if you’re using a Windows computer, or “Movie from File” if you’re on a Mac.
- Browse your files and select the video you want to use as a background. Click “Insert”.
- The video will appear on your slide. You can click and drag the corners of the video to resize it and cover the entire slide.
Setting the Video to Play Automatically
Once the video is in place, you’ll likely want it to play automatically when you reach that slide during your presentation:
- Make sure the video is selected. You’ll know it’s selected when you see the white circles around the video’s border.
- Click on the “Playback” tab in the PowerPoint toolbar.
- In the “Video Options” group, change the “Start” option to “Automatically” from the dropdown menu.
Looping the Video
If your video is short and you want it to play continuously while you’re on the slide, you can set it to loop:
- Select the video.
- Go to the “Playback” tab in the toolbar.
- Check the “Loop until Stopped” box in the “Video Options” group.
Remember that while video backgrounds can add interest to your presentation, they should not distract from your message. Choose videos that are relevant to your content and be sure they enhance rather than detract from your presentation.
