FAQ

What should be included in a business investor proposal?

A compelling business investor proposal should include the following elements:

  1. Executive Summary: This is a brief overview of your business concept, your strategies, and your financial projections. It should also include information about your business’s mission, vision, and values.
  2. Company Description: This section provides an in-depth look at your business, what it does, how it operates, and what makes it unique.
  3. Market Analysis: The market analysis should outline the industry, market trends, target audience, and competition. It should also include a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) of your business.
  4. Organization and Management: This section describes your company’s organizational structure, details about the ownership, profiles of your management team, and the qualifications of your board of directors.
  5. Products or Services: Here, you’ll describe the products or services your business offers. Explain how your products or services benefit your customers, what makes them unique or superior to those offered by competitors.
  6. Marketing and Sales Strategy: This portion outlines your strategies for attracting and retaining customers. This could include your pricing strategy, sales tactics, and marketing plans.
  7. Funding Request: If you’re seeking funding, outline your current funding requirements, future funding requirements over the next five years, how you will use the funds you receive, and the types of funding you would consider.
  8. Financial Projections: This section should include forecasted income, cash flow statements, and balance sheets. It’s good to include a forecast for the next three to five years.
  9. Exit Strategy: Investors want to know how they can get their money back, so you should include details about your exit strategy. This could involve selling the company, merging it with another company, or a buyout.
  10. Appendix: This is optional but can be used to provide additional supporting documents or resources.
Remember, each investor might have specific items they want to see, so it’s a good idea to tailor your proposal to each potential investor.
